Thomas White

July 26, 1954 — February 9, 2019

Thomas Lee White, 64, also known as Thomas, Tommy, Thomas Lee, Daddy, and Granddaddy, passed away Saturday, February 9, 2019. Thomas was the third child born to George Thomas White and Virginia Johnson White on July 26, 1954. He had two older sisters, Peggy Louise White Ervin “Susie” and Nora White Montague “Sissie”. He also had a younger sister, Kenya White Eastman and a younger brother, Michael Clay White. The family lived in Lexington during his younger years and Thomas attended St. Peter Catholic School until he was 13. The family moved to Frankfort and Thomas began attending Second Street School. At the age of 15, he joined the US Army and was sent to Germany during the Vietnam War. He served for a short time in the Army and landed in Albany, Georgia where he met and married his first wife, Kay. Thomas and Kay had a child, Crystal Lee White in 1974. However, a few years later he and Kay divorced and in the early 80’s, Thomas moved back to Frankfort.

In 1999, God led Thomas to his soulmate and the love of his life, Linda Reed White. Linda gave him the love, strength, and support to settle down into a happy family life. They married on February 12, 2000 and would have celebrated their 19th anniversary. A few days after marriage, Thomas and Linda were fortunate enough to purchase a home in Frankfort and blessed to be about to successfully raise Linda’s niece, who they now lovingly refer to as their niece daughter, Amy Reed. Amy was Thomas’ pride and was always there to help Thomas no matter what he was going through. She has been by Linda’s side through Thomas’ last days.

Thomas and Linda always showed enormous love for their family, so much so that they raised their grandchildren, Preston Shramm, who passed in June of 2018 at the age of 19; Mehlice Shramm, age 17, who was her granddaddy’s joy; and Trace Shramm, age 14, who was his granddaddy’s buddy. During these days of joyfully raising children, Thomas and Linda attended countless ball games, school events, and church events. Thomas and Linda purchased a pontoon for the family and spent many summer days enjoying the river together.

Thomas is survived by his loving wife Linda; his niece daughter, Amy Reed; his nephew son, Greg Reed; step daughter, Linda Rodgers; grandchildren, Mehlice, Trace, and Gracin; sisters, Nora Montague and Kenya Eastman; and brother, Michael White. Thomas is also survived by his biological daughter, Christie Marshall; two grandsons, Donovan and Ethan Marshall from Albany, Georgia; and numerous nieces and nephews. If you were part of Thomas’ life, you were considered his family and he loved you dearly.

Thomas will be greeted by the welcoming arms of those who have passed before him, his beloved mother and father, Virginia and George White; his sister, Peggy Ervin; and his wonderful grandson, Preston Shramm.

A Funeral Service will be held 1:00p, Thursday, February 14, 2019 at Clark Legacy Center, Versailles Rd, Frankfort, officiated by Chaplain Ester Sapp. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Kenneth Eastman, Bubby Montague, Jeff Ingram, William Woods, John Shramm, and Steven Woods serving as pallbearers. A visitation will be held from 10:00a-1:00p prior to service on Thursday.
