Obituary

Roslyn Elizabeth Archie Collins, born June 23, 1948, ended this earth journey, August 12, 2019, after a long illness. She leaves to celebrate her life, her husband of 40 years and extraordinary caretaker, Ellis Lamar Collins, one son, Travis (Rachel), two stepdaughters, Claudette and Yvette, two sisters, Donna (Johnnie), Eunice (Anthany, Sr.), her mother-in-law, Christine, four grandchildren, Jacon, Dionne, Shakiyla, Ellarose (unborn), two sisters-in-law, Geraldine (Charles, II) and Marilyn. Roslyn was the oldest daughter of the late Ann Elizabeth Lawson (Archie) Taylor and Calvin Archie. Preceding her in death were her mother, Ann, father, Calvin, stepfather, Nathaniel Taylor, Sr., father-in-law, Danny Collins, Sr., and brother-in-law, Danny Collins, Jr.

Roslyn graduated from the old Dunbar High School, class of 1966, and Central Kentucky Vocational-Technical School. She worked for many years at CKVT school in the business office. A member of Saint Paul African Methodist Church, Roslyn loved her church family especially working with the children and youth ministry. Roslyn had a sweet, giving, and god-gifted spirit that connected her with children wherever she was. She devoted her time, talent, and treasures to children she knew and did not know. Conversations with her often focused on how she was encouraging, tutoring, or helping children with their schoolwork, or selecting Christian youth educational materials for church.

Roslyn (also known as Rose or Ro-Ro) was much loved by her sisters, children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of family and friends. Roslyn loved and adored her only son Travis. Trav, as she called him, was that special joy of her life. Roslyn’s love for family and friends, allows us today to remember and cherish the exceptional times and memories she shared with us all…

Celebration of Life Services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 24, 2019 at St. Paul AME Church in Versailles, Kentucky. Family and friends may gather at the church prior to the service beginning at 10:00 am.
