Mary McCann

January 12, 1926 — May 11, 2018

A native of Owen County, she was born January 12, 1926, to the late Lillian Wilhoite and John Monroe Wilson. She was employed at various times by KenWel/Sta Rite Industries, Central Screw Company, Union Underwear, and Riverview Florist, but her primary role as wife and mother and later grandmother always came first. She was a member of Antioch Church for over 50 years and frequently provided the floral arrangements for services from the beautiful flowers she grew in her own garden. In addition to flower and vegetable gardening, she was a wonderful cook, made beautiful quilts, and loved crossword puzzles and scrabble games.
Mrs. McCann is survived by her children, Sandi Dew and her husband Don, Seaford, DE., Glenn E. McCann, Frankfort, and Jana Smith, Frankfort; two grandchildren, Brian Dew, Washington, DC and Heather Dew (Tim Perkins), Germantown, MD; and, "adopted granddaughter", Lori Woodside. She was fortunate to still have three surviving sisters, Eula Mae Botkins, Jeffersonville IN, Martha Bea Brock, Owenton, and Ruth Cox, Frankfort, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, John Edward McCann, her parents, her brothers, James Lewis Wilson, John "Junior" Wilson, and Paul Wilson and Wilson half-siblings Carter, Hubert, Clarence, Christine, R.J. and Porter.
The family wishes to express appreciation to Linda Roberts and Pam Moore, the church family at Antioch, staff of Morning Pointe/Lantern and Bluegrass Care Navigators.
