Kelly Newton

Kelly Van Newton, age 94, passed away on Friday, May 14, 2021. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, May 19, 2021, at 3:00 p.m. with Mr. Jerry Johnson officiating.
Mr. Newton was born in Frankfort on June 28, 1926, to the late Coleman Newton and Margaret Hunt Newton. He was a Veteran of the United States Army and retired from the Kentucky State Government Department of Parks after serving many years as a parks superintendent. In his spare time, Mr. Newton enjoyed playing golf.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Carole Thomas McRoberts Newton; his daughter, Barbara Newton Watts (James) of Somerset; granddaughter, Julie Watts-Baker, of Louisville; and great-grandchildren, James Baker and Sophia Baker, of Louisville. He was also blessed with many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his 12 siblings.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to The Gideons International, Central Baptist Church of Maysville, Kentucky, American Cancer Society, or Buck Run Baptist Church.
