James Wise

June 12, 1943 — March 11, 2017

Frankfort - James David "Pete" Wise, age 73, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 11, 2017. Services for Pete will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 16, 2017 at Swallowfield Baptist Church, 13898 Owenton Road, with Rev. Sam Gentry, Rev. Hunter Downing, Rev. Brian Owens and Rev. Jorge Cuentas officiating. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. The visitation will be held at the church on Thursday, March 16, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until the service hour.

Pete was born on June 12, 1943 on Mills Lane in Frankfort. He was semi-retired. He ran Wises' Body and Paint Shop for several years. He was devoted to Jesus and to the Van Ministry of Swallowfield Baptist Church. He was instrumental in starting the Van Ministry for the Hispanic Church at First Baptist Church in Frankfort. He was a faithful servant of the Lord. He loved all people, especially children. He was a deacon, youth minister and song leader at Swallowfield Baptist Church. He co-founded "Swallowfield Days" which celebrated the 20th anniversary in August of 2016. He was a member of the Capital City Classics Auto Club and the Frankfort Mustangs Club. He was also a member of the Holmes Street Neighborhood Association and the National Rifle Association.

He was devoted to his loving wife of 53 years, Jane. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Cindy Cunningham (Chad), and son, Steve Wise. He was also blessed with seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Pat and Clementine Wise; his brother, Pat Wise, Jr. and by his loving dog and friend, Celine.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Luster Allen, Art Van Houten III, Harry Lee Waterfield II, David Collins, Tommy Douglas, Sam Jones, Larry Perkins, Eric Burke, the Swallowfield Baptist Youth and Van Ministry, the Hispanic Baptist Mission, Jorge and Alison Cuentas, and the crew and friends at McDonald's East. Active pallbearers will be Chris Brewer, Bill Wise, Jody Vaughn, Jake Wise, Joey Craig, Tim Hockensmith and Joe Thornsberry.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be given to the Youth Ministry of Swallowfield Baptist Church or the Franklin Baptist Association - Hispanic Ministry, c/o Kenny Blankenship, 119 Oxford Place, Frankfort, KY 40601.

Arrangements are under the direction of Harrod Brothers Funeral Home.
