Jack Thurman

Frankfort – Jack Charles Thurman, age 68, passed away Saturday, February 9, 2019, in Frankfort. Services will be held at North Frankfort Baptist Church on Thursday, February 14, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. David Smith officiating, assisted by Bro. Don Karsner. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 13, 2019.
Mr. Thurman was born in Frankfort on October 17, 1950, to the late Artist Leonard Thurman and Carrie Lyne Woolums Thurman. He was a Veteran of the Kentucky National Guard and retired from the Kentucky State Department of Juvenile Justice. He was a member of North Frankfort Baptist Church. In his spare time he enjoyed playing guitar, hunting, and was an avid sports fan. Above all, he loved his family and grandkids.
He is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn Anne Murphy Thurman; children, Artisha Grimes and Derrick Thurman (Michelle); siblings, Donna Haney, Tina Biggs, and Michael Tincher; and grandchildren, Eric Grimes (Emily), J.T. Thurman, and Jessie Thurman.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his son-in-law, John K. Grimes.
Serving as pallbearers will be J.T. Thurman, Eric Grimes, Jessie Thurman, Bill Boise, Stephen Perkins, Timmy Casey, Marty Jones, and Sammy Jones. Honorary pallbearers will be Rex Miller, Tommy Wiard, Martin Henson, Mark Miller, Eddie Miller, Scott Perry, Pete Wright, George Bunker, Mark Brewer, Rocky Haney, Billy Carrier, Johnny Vest, Bailey Layton Brewer and Tony Tackett.
Flowers are welcome and expressions of sympathy may be made to North Frankfort Baptist Church in Mr. Thurman’s memory.
