George Barnett

George Franklin Barnett, 72, husband of Linda Barnett passed away on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. Born February 4, 1949 in Lexington he was the son of the late Sterling and Ora Pelphrey Barnett. George was a former employee of Texas Instruments and was a skilled painter who owned and operated Barnett Painting. He was an active member of the Sons of the America Legion, loved golfing, fishing, and watching UK football and basketball. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his sons, Nathan Fitzpatrick, Kenny Barnett, great-grandson, Luke Kincaid, 7 brothers and 4 sisters.

George will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 39 years, Linda Tharp Barnett, daughters, Katrinca (Jan Sexton) Barnett, Kimberly Wallace, Kristi (David) Dupree, all of Lawrenceburg, Sonya (Craig) Martin, Covington, brother, Wayne (Margaret) Barnett, Lexington, 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 5:00 pm on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home, Rev. David Dupree officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 2:00 pm. Private Graveside Services will be held on Monday, August 30, 2021 at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Tommy Dennison, Frank Killebrew, Dean “Shaggy” Compher, Jeremy Larsen, Houston Sexton, Daniel Teberg.
