Obituary for Evelyn Mae Wiley Dempsey

Frankfort – Evelyn Mae Wiley Dempsey, age 100, passed away Wednesday, November 28, 2018. Services will be held at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home on Monday, December 3, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Truett Cocanougher officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Monday.
Mrs. Dempsey was born in Stamping Ground on January 29, 1918, to the late Edward and Addie Strange Wiley. She was united in marriage to her husband of 67 years, Foster “Shorty” Corbin Dempsey, who also preceded her in death. She retired from Union Underwear after 50 years serving as a seamstress. She was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening and tending to her flowers. Mrs. Dempsey had a great sense of humor, and lived a long, happy life. Above all, she loved her family dearly.
She is survived by her son, Ronnie Dempsey (Patty); sister, Marcelle Stewart; grandchildren, Sherri Hollinsworth (John) and Amy Kovacs (Daniel); great-grandchildren, John A. Hollinsworth, Nichole Hollinsworth, Jacob L. Hollinsworth, Abby Sadler, and Brian Sadler; and by special nieces, Gardella Richards (Milton) and Sandra Noah (Larry).
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded by her son, Larry Dempsey and by her 13 siblings.
Serving as pallbearers will be family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Calvary Baptist Church.
