Services for Elbert Earl Lewis will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home with Dr. Jay Padgett officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation for family and friends will be at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Mr. Lewis passed away Saturday, March 4, 2017 at the VA Medical Center in Lexington. He was born in Frankfort on August 23, 1926 to the late Robert A. and Rachel Brawner Lewis. He was a veteran of the US Army serving during WWII. "Egg" was a retired self-employed excavation contractor. He was a member of VFW Post 4075 and Graefenburg Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Henry Lewis, Robert A. Lewis, Jr., Charles Reed Lewis and Harry Scott Lewis; and sisters, Vivian Thomas Hockensmith, Lura Brown and Dorothy Ann Henry.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Sarah Catherine Rogers Lewis; sons, Danny W. Lewis (Viola), Wm. Earl Lewis; grandchildren, Brooke Michele Dockery, Tammy Cathy and Walter Rogers; great granddaughter, Kaylee Jo Willard; brothers, William Elliott Lewis, Jimmy Carol Lewis; and sisters, Frances Katherine Moore and Virginia Lee Sharp.

Pallbearers will be James C. Lewis, Jr. Robert A. Lewis III, Rusty Lewis, Walter E. Rogers, John M. Rogers, James Dockery, James C. Lewis III and Sonny Dean.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be sent to Graefenburg Baptist Church, 11288 Frankfort Road, Waddy, KY 40076.
