Darlene Jackson

Darlene Kirtley Jackson, 67, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, October 29, 2021 at her home in Versailles, Kentucky. She was born in Woodford County on October 8, 1954 to Richard Kirtley, Jr., and the late Mildred Lilly Kirtley. Darlene was a 1972 graduate of Woodford County High School and a graduate of Kentucky State University. She retired as the Executive Administrative Assistant to the President of Kentucky State University. Darlene was a devoted member of St. Paul A.M.E Church, and an active member of the NAACP and the Human Rights Commission, and active in many other community groups and organizations.

In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her sister, Diane Harris, and brother, Darrell Kirtley. Darlene will be lovingly remembered by her son, Domonique (Brittani) Kirtley, Frankfort, father, Richard Kirtley, Jr., Versailles, sister, Danita Kirtley, Indianapolis, IN, brother, Richard (Rita) Kirtley, III, Versailles, grandchildren, Kyla and Kree Kirtley, goddaughter and niece, LaMichelle Haddix (Alexis McKee), Versailles, goddaughter Shawna (Ed) White, Versailles, niece Candice Kirtley, Versailles, Rikki Quarels, Versailles, nephews James R. (Maurette) Harris, Dereke (Megan) Kirtley, Frankfort, Ricardo A. Kirtley Cincinnati, OH, sister-in-law Rhonda (Alex) Raglin Versailles, aunts Mary Alice Trent, Versailles, Minnie Lilly, Lexington, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, many friends, “adopted” children and family. She was affectionately and proudly known as “NaNa”. She was widely known and loved by so many.

Homegoing Services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at Versailles United Methodist Church, Rev. William R. T. Hale officiating. Friends and family may gather prior to the service beginning at 11:00 am. At the request of the family and facility proper facial coverings will be required for all those attending. Private Graveside Services will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
