Obituary of Carroll Walden

Mae Carroll Holland Walden, 83, passed away Oct. 19, 2017. She was the widow of Roland Leon Walden, her husband of 57 years.

Visitation will be Saturday, Oct. 28, 2017, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Rogers Funeral Home with a service at 1. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Guests are invited to wear the colors of their favorite sports team.

Born in Douglas, Alabama, Carroll was a former school teacher, substitute teacher and homemaker. She was a member of Crestwood Baptist Church and formerly with the Franklin County Homemakers Association.

Carroll is survived by two children, Byron Walden (Robin Schulman), of San Carlos, California, and Susan Riddell of Frankfort. She was their biggest cheerleader and will be missed dearly.

Carroll was the beloved grandmother of granddaughter, Holland,and grandson, Harrison, both of whom she loved more than anything.

Carroll is also survived by sister, Mary Gene Cornelius, Albertville, Alabama; brother-in-law Glenn (Denise) Walden, Baton Rouge, Louisiana; sister-in-law Elizabeth Jordan, Pinson, Alabama; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Bessie Holland, and a sister, Marylynn.

The utmost of gratitude goes to her caregiver, Cindy Pardi, Hospice of the Bluegrass and to her many doctors over the years.

Honorary pallbearers will be Alison Cuentas, Bettye Zoe Kent, Sherry Holder, Shelby Timmons, Sandra Simmons and Judy Watkins.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you visit a shut-in or watch a sporting event with your loved ones.
